Potential class action re TSA liquids policy
Hi. My name is Sai.

I am looking into filing a class action lawsuit against TSA's liquids policy — in particular, the rule that prohibits you from traveling with more than 3.4oz of non-dangerous liquids unless it's "medical" in TSA's opinion, and even if it is medical, prevents you from traveling with more than an amount "necessary for the duration of the flight" in TSA's opinion.

If you have been a victim of this policy, and are interested in joining me, please fill out this form.

See https://s.ai/tsa/legal/sfo for details. Please send any email about this to tsaclass@s.ai.

Any information you provide here may be shared with my lawyers (if any), but will otherwise NOT be shared — including in court — without your permission.

NOTE: I am not a lawyer, I am not your lawyer, and I can't represent you in court. I might be able to be a "class representative", i.e. to act on behalf of everyone who's been similarly affected. This isn't legal advice or opinion. If you want to sue them yourself, you'll have to get your own lawyer.

In short: I'm not promising you anything at all, other than that I will take your info into consideration and try to do what I think is right.

What's your name? *
What's your email? *
What happened to you? *
"Not allowed" includes being initially told to discard it but getting manager override, and not bringing it but planned to and would have done so but for TSA policy. "Drink / liquid food" includes e.g. water, juice, pie, breast milk, smoothie, etc. — anything liquid and meant to be consumed. "Non-drink liquid" is everything else, e.g. perfume, snow globe, lotion, etc.

Where did this happen?
Non-TSA US airports are: Bert Mooney, Bozeman Yellowstone International, Dawson Community, Glacier Park International, Greater Rochester International, Havre City-County, Jackson Hole, Kansas City International, Key West International, L.M. Clayton, Orlando Sanford International, Portsmouth International, Roswell International Air Center, San Francisco International, Sarasota-Bradenton International, Sidney Richland Municipal, Sioux Falls Regional, Sonoma County, Tupelo Regional, Wokal Field/Glasgow International, & Yellowstone.
When did this happen?
How much did this cost you (liquids)?
Approximate the total cost to you, in $ USD. What was the value of the liquid itself (e.g. amount paid, cost of replacement, etc), including any discarded / confiscated container?
How much did this cost you (other harm)?
Approximate the total cost to you, in $ USD. What was the cost of any medical harm or other injury you experienced?
What evidence do you have?
How would you be able to prove both what happened to you, and how much it cost you? E.g. receipts, notes, recordings, complaint filed, etc.
What have you done about it?
"Formal written complaint" means something that gives you legal rights, e.g. a Rehabilitation Act / Americans With Disabilities Act complaint or a Federal Tort Claims Act form — see https://www.tsa.gov/travel/passenger-support/claims. Informal written complaint includes anything answered by TSA's PR people.
What role(s) are you willing to play in court?
Early class member: you would need to submit an affidavit for use in court that explains the things above. Class (or subclass) representative: You would potentially be a named plaintiff, and would represent everyone else similarly situated. Again: this is not a promise or offer of any kind. In both cases, if you are included, you might have to give up your right to sue the TSA about this issue separately.
Are you a US citizen?
Dual US citizens included.
